Jennifer Hicks MA, LCMHC, NCC
Hello! (And now... we've met!)
I'm Jennifer. A little about me? Let's see... I began my education with Stanly Community College with an AAS in Human Services, along with my Substance Abuse Professional Certification, in 2009. From there, I transferred to Fayetteville State University where I obtained my BS in Psychology. (Sounds odd to say I got a "BS" in Psychology... or is that just me?) I attended graduate school at Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado, where I obtained my Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2016. I then returned to ASU in 2019 to work on my MBA, focused on Public Administration.
I am happily married to the greatest husband ever. (No. This is not debatable.) Between us, we have 4 wild and beautiful children, ranging from 17 to 6. We have 2 dogs, 0 cats (yes, this is on purpose), and there is sad news about our Glofish: they are no longer with us. :)
I'm an honest person. I'm real. I'm not perfect. That is how I live my life. It's how I approach life stressors & therapy challenges. It's also how I treat my clients. I choose to be the same in all that I do: REAL! You may not always like what I have to say. But I will always be me and ALWAYS be honest. Bring me the real you and I'll do the same.
I'm not confrontational. I'm conversational.
I'm a counselor. But I will challenge you. Not because I want to argue with you. But if you won't get out of your own way... I'll help move you.
We all have those "struggle bus" moments. We all have those times when we feel completely alone, anxious, worried about the future, or even like a failure with every attempt at life. You're not alone and sometimes change is hard. Don't be scared of the unknown: get to know it!
